a. Responsibilities of the Academic Advisor
A Academic Advisor must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the operational framework of the K2020 Multidegree Structure integrated with MBKM as part of the IPB 4.0 Education Curriculum Structure.
- Providing students with explanations about the education system and academic administration at IPB.
- Offering guidance, assistance, and mentoring to students in planning their comprehensive study plans, integrating multi-activity and multi-channel learning as designed in the K2020 Multidegree-MBKM Structure, from the beginning of their studies, course registration (KRS), and validation.
- Giving explanations, advice, motivation, and inspiration to students on effective learning methods.
- Ensuring that students’ autonomy in multi-activity and multi-channel learning is implemented according to their comprehensive study plans, maximizing time and learning facilities to enable early or on-time graduation.
- Allocating sufficient time for intensive consultations with students, both in person and through various communication media.
- Documenting each mentee’s portfolio, including various learning activities, achievements, and regularly updating and inputting them into the provided system. The mentor must report these records at the end of each semester to the head of the study program/department, with acknowledgment from the Dean.
- Advising students whose academic performance is declining, identifying the causes, and helping them find solutions to improve their performance in subsequent semesters.
- If students face non-academic issues beyond the Academic Advisor’s capacity, they should be referred to IPB’s counseling services for further assistance.
b. Functions of the Academic Advisor (PP)
- Assisting students in planning their study paths from the first semester until graduation.
- Providing advice on selecting mandatory and elective courses, helping students construct their study plans based on their learning needs.
- Recommending the appropriate number of credits students should take each semester based on their academic performance and validating their Study Plan Form (FRS) in the student advisory system.
- Supporting students in channeling their interests and talents to enhance their academic abilities.
- Assisting students in exercising their learning autonomy by understanding their Learning Outcomes (LO) journey, aligning it with their chosen study program.
c. Authorities of the Academic Advisor (PP)
- Providing academic and non-academic advice to mentee students.
- Assisting in solving academic challenges faced by their mentees.
- Helping students recognize their potential, talents, and interests, refine their tacit knowledge, and develop their skills.
- Assisting in overcoming issues that hinder students’ academic progress.
- Referring student concerns that fall outside their authority to the relevant personnel or office.
- Assisting students in selecting research topics for their Final Project (TA/Tugas Akhir) through various activity options and learning channels (MBKM).
d. Obligations of the Academic Advisor (PP)
- Possessing broad academic insight and a strong understanding of IPB 4.0 Curriculum Structure, particularly the K2020 Multidegree Structure integrated with MBKM, as followed by their mentees.
- Understanding and being well-versed in Merdeka Belajar with multi-activity and multi-channel approaches within their students’ Study Program/Department.
- Being knowledgeable about the operations and nature of various student programs, research initiatives, and community service programs offered by relevant units such as Dit. Mawa, DPMA, external educational institutions, or industries outside IPB.
- Setting up and maintaining a regular meeting schedule with their mentees.
- Establishing an academically supportive and professional relationship with mentees.
- Monitoring, observing, and guiding students’ academic progress periodically.
- Systematically documenting and evaluating the programs undertaken by their mentees (student portfolios).
- If stepping away from their duties, PP must notify the Head of Study Program/Department, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, or the Dean.
