Graduate Programs Admission

Admissions to the Master’s and Doctoral programs at IPB University are administered by two schools: the Graduate School and the School of Business, under the coordination of the Graduate School.

a) Graduate School

  1. Regular Track
    The Regular Track is a graduate education pathway conducted in accordance with IPB’s academic regulations, with classes held Monday to Friday (Saturday is optional). Tuition fees follow Rector’s Decree No. 79/IT3/KU/2016.Admission Requirements:

    • Minimum GPA from the previous academic level: Master’s applicants: ≥ 2.75 (scale 0–4) or equivalent; Doctoral applicants: ≥ 3.50 (scale 0–4) or equivalent.
    • Applicants with: (a) GPA 2.50–2.74 (Master’s) or (b) 3.25–3.49 (Doctoral) may be considered for conditional admission;
    • Applicants with: (a) GPA 2.00–2.49 (Master’s) must have a TPA score ≥ 450; (b) GPA 3.00–3.24 (Doctoral) must have a TPA score ≥ 475. These applicants may be considered for conditional admission.
  2. Special Track
    The Special Track is a graduate education pathway conducted in accordance with IPB’s academic regulations, with classes held outside regular working days (Friday evenings and Saturdays), or on weekdays if conducted under institutional collaboration. This track is only available for selected study programs. Tuition fees follow Rector’s Decree No. 78/IT3/KU/2016.
    Admission Requirements:

    • Minimum GPA from the previous academic level: Master’s applicants: ≥ 2.75 (scale 0–4) or equivalent; Doctoral applicants: ≥ 3.50 (scale 0–4) or equivalent; Applicants with GPA 2.50–2.74 (Master’s) or 3.25–3.49 (Doctoral) may be considered for conditional admission
    • Mandatory submission of TPA scores: Master’s applicants: TPA ≥ 475; Doctoral applicants: TPA ≥ 500; Applicants who do not submit a TPA score may be admitted under conditional status.
  3. Research Track (By Research)
    The Research Track is a Master’s or Doctoral program focused on research, allowing students to continue conducting research at their home institutions while pursuing graduate studies at IPB.
    Admission Requirements:

    • Academic qualifications: (a) Master’s by Research: Bachelor’s degree in science; (b) Doctoral by Research: Master’s degree in science. Previous study program must have a minimum accreditation of B or “Very Good”
    • Minimum GPA: (a) Master’s applicants: ≥ 2.75 (scale 0–4) or equivalent; (b) Doctoral applicants: ≥ 3.50 (scale 0–4) or equivalent
    • Applicants with: (a) GPA 2.50–2.74 (Master’s) or 3.00–3.49 (Doctoral) may be considered in accordance with applicable regulations.
    • Applicants with lower GPAs may be considered for conditional admission if they meet one of the following: (a) Master’s applicants: GPA 2.00–2.49 with ≥ 4 years of work experience or TPA ≥ 450; (b) Doctoral applicants: GPA 3.00–3.24 with ≥ 6 years of work experience or TPA ≥ 475.
    • Publication or innovation requirements: (a) Master’s applicants must have one national publication, or one Scopus-indexed international publication (as co-author), or a patent (as principal inventor), or pass an eligibility interview by the IPB team; (b) Doctoral applicants must have three national publications (at least one as first author), or one Scopus-indexed international publication (as first author), or a patent (as principal inventor), or pass an eligibility interview by the IPB team
    • Research experience is preferred: (a) Minimum 2 years for Master’s applicants; (b) Minimum 4 years for Doctoral applicants
    • Applicants who are employed must submit an official assignment letter from their home institution.
    • Applicants with institutional sponsorship under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IPB Graduate School are given priority.
  4. Bachelor–Master Synergy Program (S1–S2)The Bachelor–Master Synergy Program is an integrated and continuous academic pathway that combines undergraduate and master’s education in a linear or closely related field. It is designed to provide intellectually capable and mature students with the opportunity to voluntarily accelerate their academic development by completing both degrees in a shorter time frame and at a more cost-effective rate.Eligibility Requirements:
    • Undergraduate students with a GPA above 3.25 who have completed a minimum of 110 credits within six semesters
    • Students with a proven record of individual maturity, as assessed by their Academic Advisor and endorsed by the Head of the Department of their undergraduate program
    • Students who apply to a Master’s program closely related to their undergraduate major
    • Students who submit a comprehensive academic plan for accelerated completion of both degrees, including a proposed Master’s thesis that aligns with their undergraduate final project or thesis
  5. Master to Doctoral Education Program for Outstanding Graduates (PMDSU)
    The PMDSU Program (Pendidikan Magister Menuju Doktor untuk Sarjana Unggul) is an integrated and continuous academic pathway from Master’s to Doctoral studies, intended for outstanding bachelor’s graduates (fresh graduates) as defined by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). This program enables highly capable and mature students to optimize their academic development by completing both degrees in a relatively shorter time.
    The candidates should meet the following eligibility criteria: (a) Must be admitted as a regular Master’s student at IPB Graduate School; (b) Must be an outstanding bachelor’s graduate; (c) Must hold a Bachelor’s degree (S1).
    The candidates should meet the GPA requirements based on accreditation status of the applicant’s university and study program: (a) If the accreditation rating of the applicant’s university is A or Excellent, and the accreditation rating of the applicant’s study program is also A or Excellent, then the minimum GPA required is ≥ 3.25. (b) If the accreditation rating of the applicant’s university is B or Very Good, and the accreditation rating of the applicant’s study program is A or Excellent, then the minimum GPA required is ≥ 3.50. (c) If the accreditation rating of the applicant’s university is A or Excellent, and the accreditation rating of the applicant’s study program is B or Very Good, then the minimum GPA required is ≥ 3.50.
    Eligibility Requirements for PMDSU Scholarship:

    • The age at the time of registration must not exceed 24 years for non-professional graduates and 27 years for professional graduates.
    • Obtaining a recommendation from academic advisor.
    • Indonesian citizen.
    • Not currently receiving any other scholarships.
    • In good physical and mental health.
    • Willing to undertake the postgraduate education for a period of 4 (four) years.

b.  School of Business

  1. Master of Management and Business
    The Master of Management and Business program is a Master’s degree (S2) program offered by the School of Business at IPB. The available admission Pathways  include the regular Pathways , executive Pathways  (Bogor and Jakarta classes), synergy Pathways , and PMDSU Pathways .

    1. Regular and Executive Pathways
      For each class offered in the Master of Management and Business program (MM Regular and MM Executive), participants can choose one of the 10 areas of interest, which are: (1) Marketing Management; (2) Financial Management; (3) Knowledge and Innovation Management; (4) Strategic Management; (5) Information Systems Management; (6) Supply Chain Management; (7) Sustainable Agribusiness Development; (8) Bio-business Systems; (9) Sharia Management; and (10) Risk Management.The program requirements are: (1) document: original scan or photocopy of the bachelor’s degree certificate and transcript from an accredited institution; formal color photo (with a white or red background); One letter of recommendation from a superior or an S1 lecturer;  \study leave/leave of absence letter from the institution’s leader (for participants in the morning classes who are employed) (2) Complete the Admission Test, which includes the Academic Potential Test (TPA) and an English language proficiency test.
    2. Synergy Program (S1-S2)
      Synergy Program is an integrated and continuous implementation of a Bachelor’s and Master’s program in related/relevant fields of study, providing an opportunity for students with high intellectual ability and maturity to voluntarily optimize their self-development by completing an integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s education program in a relatively shorter time and at a lower cost.The requirements for joining the Synergy Program (S1-S2) are: (1) undergraduate students with a GPA > 3.25 and have completed a minimum of 110 credits in 6 (six) semesters; (2) showed individual maturity and academic excellence based on the assessment of their Academic Advisor, validated by the Head of the Department where the undergraduate program is offered; (3) the master’s program should be closely related to their undergraduate program/major; (4) a comprehensive study plan for accelerated completion of both bachelor’s and master’s studies, including a research thesis plan for the master’s program that aligns with the Final Project/Thesis of the bachelor’s program.
    3. PMDSU
      The implementation of the PMDSU Pathways  at the School of Business IPB will begin in the academic year 2024/2025. The homebase faculty members at the School of Business IPB who will serve as PMDSU promoters are Prof. Dr. Ir. Noer Azam Achsani, MS, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Arif Imam Suroso, M.Sc (CS).The following requirements for the PMDSU scholarship are based on the regulations set by the School of Business IPB and Kemdikbudristek:

      • Indonesian citizen;
      • Admitted in the Master of Management and Business program at the School of Business IPB through IPB admission process (please refer to the “Graduate School” section)
      • The age limit at the time of registration is 24 years old for non-professional graduates and 27 years old for professional graduates;
      • Obtain a recommendation from an academic advisor;
      • Not currently receiving another scholarship;
      • Physically and mentally healthy, and free from drug abuse;
      • Willing to undergo postgraduate education for a period of 4 (four) years.

      Prospective students can find information about the PMDSU program and potential promoters along with their fields of expertise on the PMDSU page. The registration and selection process for PMDSU students follows the regulations issued by Kemdikbudristek.

  2. Doctoral Program in Management and Business
    The Doctoral Program in Management and Business is a research-based program focused on the development of management aspects, aimed at enhancing managerial capacity while providing original contributions to management practices and/or the field of management science.

    1. Regular Pathways
      The requirements for this program are as follows:

      • A minimum Master’s GPA (IPK) of 3.00;
      • Upload the required documents, including: (1) A 4 x 6 passport-sized photo (with a white or red background); (2) Scanned copies or legalized photocopies of the bachelor’s and master’s degree certificate and academic transcripts from the issuing institution; (3) Certificate of the BAPPENAS Academic Potential Test (TPA) with a minimum score of 500, valid for one year from the test date; (4) TOEFL ITP certificate with a score of ≥ 500 (optional), valid for one year from the test date; (5) Recommendation letters from two professors from the S1 and S2 programs, with at least one holding a doctoral degree; (6) Letter of approval from the applicant’s employer, if currently employed; (7) Curriculum Vitae; (8) Published scientific work in a peer-reviewed journal with an ISSN (optional); (9) Research proposal; (10) Financial guarantee statement for tuition from a sponsor or financial guarantor (with a stamp duty of IDR 10,000);
      • Participate in the admission process, including an interview based on the research proposal.
