Inter-Semester Courses

  1. Inter-semester courses are courses conducted during the academic year transition period (from the even semester to the odd semester), outside the regular odd and even semester schedules.
  2. The purpose of inter-semester courses is to provide opportunities for students to retake specific courses and/or accelerate their studies to complete their program on time.
  3. The credit load for inter-semester courses, including lectures and/or practical sessions/tutorials, is equivalent to courses offered in the odd or even semester as stated in the curriculum. This includes 14 meetings (lectures and/or practical sessions/tutorials), one mid-term exam, and one final exam.
  4. The maximum number of credits a student can take in an inter-semester course period is 9 (nine) credits.
  5. The implementation of Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) during inter-semester courses follows the terms and conditions outlined in Rector’s Decree No. 9/IT3/PM/2020.
  6. The organization of inter-semester courses for specific subjects can be carried out upon the request of the course coordinator and the Head of Department/Director of the PKU Program under the following conditions:
    a. The objectives and purposes of implementation must align with those stated in section 3.b.
    b. Students enrolling in inter-semester courses are required to re-register and pay tuition fees as determined by IPB regulations.
    c. The minimum number of students per class in inter-semester courses is 20 students for the Bachelor’s Program, 5 students for the Professional and Master’s Programs, and 3 students for the Doctoral Program. Under certain conditions (e.g., if the number of repeating students does not meet the minimum threshold but they must take the course as a prerequisite for the next semester), the number of participants may be determined by the course coordinator, considering the efficiency and effectiveness of the teaching-learning process, and must be approved by the Head of Department/Director of the PKU Program.
    d. Students with an academic status of leave of absence or inactive in the even semester are allowed to participate in inter-semester courses after submitting a reactivation letter following a leave of absence issued by the faculty/school or a reactivation request letter from inactive status issued by the department, as well as fulfilling the applicable administrative requirements for inter-semester courses.
    e. Students who are declared as Drop Out (DO) following the evaluation at the end of the even semester will automatically have their participation in inter-semester courses canceled.
  7. Students who have registered and paid the tuition fees for inter-semester courses will be listed in the Course Attendance List in SIMAK. However, students who have registered but have not made the payment will have their course participation canceled.
  8. Students who have registered and paid for the inter-semester courses but do not attend or whose participation is canceled as stated in point (f.5) will not be eligible for a refund of the fees paid.
  9. Lecturers must upload the letter grade of inter-semester courses no later than two (2) weeks after the final examination of the respective course.
  10. Grades obtained in inter-semester courses will be recorded in the semester transcript.
  11. The credit load (SKS) of inter-semester courses will be recorded under the inter-semester period, ensuring that taking inter-semester courses does not reduce the maximum credit load in the odd semester.
